Caritas Service

Level 3.5 - Diocesan Caritas Service

TARGET

By December 2020, the Diocesan Caritas Service for Integral Human Development, Justice, Peace, Relief Aid and Care for the Creation, in collaboration with other Diocesan Services, Parishes and Partners have discovered the demands of faith by following Jesus’ life and allowing His teachings to touch our hearts. Through this they have become the disciples of Jesus. The Service has reached out to all the people and helped them to transform their lives and their relationships with God, people and nature. The Service has promoted good Melanesian values that give life and empower people to be true witnesses of their faith by following the teachings of the Church. This has been achieved through all our planned activities and programs.

Rationale (Reasons)

SITUATION

The Diocesan Caritas Service continues to work with one staff member taking up many responsibilities at the diocesan level and responding to demands coming from Caritas PNG or from other networking partners. The heavy workload makes it hard to carry out the work effectively. There is a need for networking and collaboration between the Services, Parishes and other partners to stand-up against corruption at all levels.

IDEAL

The Diocesan Caritas Service prioritizes its planned activities and programs and carries out its roles and responsibilities effectively in the service of the communities. The Diocesan Caritas Service has built a good networking relationship with other Diocesan Services, Parishes, and partners for justice, peace and development activities in the communities.

CONVERSION

  • From only one staff with too many responsibilities and not carrying out his work effectively to prioritizing his work.
  • From limited impact on the people by the Diocesan Caritas Service to increasing the outreach to the parishes and villages.
  • From a weak network to a stronger collaboration with Services, Parishes and partners.
